A sprocket is not just a disc with teeth. It is the interface between the chain, gearing and motorcycle hub.

Product Definition / Custom Manufacturing

Manufactured around the drivetrain, not a generic diameter

Motorcycle sprockets work with the drive chain to transmit power and establish the final-drive relationship. The specification therefore involves chain compatibility, tooth configuration, mounting geometry and the intended motorcycle application.

A front or countershaft sprocket may require a spline, offset, retention arrangement or cush-drive-related interface. A rear sprocket may require a defined bore, PCD, hole pattern, thickness, offset and carrier interface.

HPM can work from your drawing, CAD file, physical sample, OEM dimensions, or other technical references to establish the required production configuration. Exact material, treatment and feature capability are confirmed for each project.

Front and rear sprockets have different interfaces

Both are part of the final drive system, but front sprockets connect to the countershaft while rear sprockets connect to the wheel or sprocket carrier.

01

Chain Interface

Pitch, tooth profile and tooth count must match the intended drive chain and gearing.

02

Hub Interface

Rear bore, PCD, holes, thickness and offset define the wheel or carrier fitment.

03

Production Reference

Drawings, samples, OEM dimensions and application data can define a repeatable part.

Product Range

Motorcycle sprocket configurations for review

The product family is organized by drivetrain position and specification logic. Final scope depends on the part definition and the confirmed motorcycle or customer requirement.

01

Front Sprockets

Countershaft sprockets defined around the chain pitch, tooth count, spline or shaft interface, offset and retention arrangement.

Countershaft application | Fitment-specific interface

02

Rear Sprockets

Wheel or carrier sprockets defined around the chain pitch, tooth count, bore, PCD, hole pattern, thickness and offset.

Hub / carrier fitment | Mounting geometry

03

Custom Geometry

Non-standard mounting dimensions, tooth counts, offsets, profiles or application interfaces can be considered from an approved reference.

Special fitment | Application-specific design

04

Product Programs

Develop related sprocket configurations for aftermarket brands, performance programs, racing applications, custom motorcycle manufacturers and private-label product lines.

Multiple fitments | Repeat production

Drive chains, sprocket carriers, rear hubs and chain conversion kits are related drivetrain components, not included in this product definition.

Drivetrain Fitment

Fitment is more than tooth count

A sprocket must match the chain and the motorcycle interface at the same time. Tooth configuration, mounting geometry, chain line and surrounding clearance all affect the final specification.

Fitment is part of the product specification

Build the sprocket around the complete interface

Chain / gearing / hub or countershaft

Chain compatibility

Chain pitch, width and tooth profile must correspond to the intended drive chain.

Tooth configuration

Front and rear tooth counts establish the required final-drive relationship and application intent.

Mounting geometry

Rear bore, PCD, hole count, hole diameter and carrier interface define wheel-side fitment.

Countershaft interface

Front spline, offset, retention method and clearance must match the motorcycle application.

Chain line and clearance

Thickness, offset and surrounding components affect alignment, installation and running clearance.

Reference and repeatability

Drawing, sample, OEM dimensions and an approved production specification support repeat batches.

Sprocket Specification

Define the chain and interface before the part

“I need a 45T sprocket” does not define a complete motorcycle sprocket. The required chain, tooth count and mounting geometry should be evaluated together.

Gearing Relationship

Tooth configuration changes the final drive

Front and rear tooth counts are not decorative values. They are part of the gearing specification and should be selected around the intended motorcycle application, chain length and adjustment range.

Final Drive Ratio = Rear Teeth / Front Teeth

Tooth configuration should be specified with the application

3.00

15T front / 45T rear

An example final-drive relationship. The exact change from original gearing depends on the reference configuration.

2.80

15T front / 42T rear

A different rear tooth count changes the ratio even when the front sprocket remains unchanged.

FRONT

Countershaft selection

Changing front teeth can affect ratio, chain line, clearance and the required retention interface.

REAR

Wheel-side selection

Changing rear teeth can affect ratio, sprocket diameter, chain length and axle adjustment.

Custom Configuration

Specify the sprocket around your application

When a standard replacement part does not match the required chain, gearing or motorcycle interface, the configuration can be defined from the reference you have.

Pitch & Teeth

Chain pitch, tooth count, tooth profile and front or rear position establish the drive-side specification.

Bore & PCD

Rear center bore, pitch circle diameter, hole count, hole diameter and carrier interface define wheel-side fitment.

Thickness & Offset

Overall thickness, offset, seating surfaces and chain-line position control the installed relationship.

Material & Finish

Material, surface treatment, profile and other production requirements can be included in the approved specification.

Specific steel or aluminum grades, heat treatment, tooth hardening, anodizing, hybrid construction, tolerance and inspection requirements are confirmed for each project.

Custom Manufacturing Process

From sprocket reference to production

A custom sprocket program starts with the chain and application, then moves through defined geometry, specification approval and production.

Reference – Specify – Produce – Repeat

Production Programs

Consistency starts with an approved reference

For B2B customers, the requirement may include multiple chain sizes, fitments, tooth configurations and repeat batches. Production should be based on a defined specification rather than a generic product name.

01 / Product reference

Approved Drawing

Use the approved drawing, CAD file, OEM reference or sample to establish the production definition.

Defined tooth profile | Defined interfaces

02 / Product family

Multiple Fitments

Develop related front or rear sprocket configurations for different motorcycle applications.

Different chain pitches | Different mounting geometry

03 / Repeat orders

Batch Production

Use the confirmed production specification as the reference for subsequent batches and product programs.

Repeat configuration | Quantity requirement

Motorcycle Applications

Different platforms. Different sprocket requirements

Custom sprockets can be developed for different motorcycle applications where chain, gearing and mounting interfaces vary. These are application contexts, not a fixed HPM fitment catalogue.

01 / Performance

Sportbike

Front spline, rear carrier geometry, chain line and gearing may vary between model generations.

02 / Street

Naked & Street

Replacement or new-product sprockets can be defined around the motorcycle’s original drivetrain interface.

03 / Dual-purpose

Adventure & Dual-Sport

Durability, gearing, clearance and carrier fitment may influence the required configuration.

04 / Competition

Off-Road & Racing

Tooth configuration, weight, material and application-specific features may be part of the program.

05 / Custom build

Cruiser & Custom

Non-standard wheel, hub or countershaft interfaces can require a sprocket developed from a sample or drawing.

Related Motorcycle Drivetrain Components

Motorcycle Chains

Motorcycle sprockets and chains work together as part of the final-drive system. Chain pitch and sprocket tooth geometry need to match the intended application.

Motorcycle Chain Adjusters

Motorcycle chain adjusters control rear-wheel positioning and chain adjustment within the final-drive system. Their mounting and adjustment interfaces need to match the motorcycle application.
